Three years ago, two people from Finland had an idea: a complaints choir. A complaints choir is a choir where people sing their complaints. They sing about the things that worry them or annoy them or make them angry. These things include bad dates, noisy neighbors and global warming.
The names of the two people from Finland are Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and Tellervo Kalleinen.
The first complaints choir was in Birmingham, England. They sang about the high price of beer. After people heard about this choir, complaints choirs started in Helsinki and Budapest. The Helsinki complaints choir sang about boring dreams. The Budapest complaints choir sang about a neighbor who practiced folk dance in an apartment upstairs.
Now there are complaints choirs in many countries, including Australia and Israel. There are more than 20 complaints choirs around the world. The first U.S. complaints choir debuted recently in Chicago.
Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and Tellervo Kalleinen say it is good that there is now a complaints choir in the United States. They say that people in the United States are too focused on positive thinking. (AP)
