11月28日から4日間、「ロボット・テクノロジーが未来を拓く」をテーマに、東京ビッグサイトで「2007国際ロボット展」が開催されました。
The International Robot Exhibition was held at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo this year. It showcased around 1,000 robots from across the world. It is the world's largest robot exhibition.
One of the robots was a baby robot that cried and burped. These robots were created by Yamazaki Co. Their aim is to help students and soon-to-be parents learn how to care for babies. "The way students will touch a baby will be completely different once they have looked at, touched, and experienced this 'baby,'" said Kaoru Nukui, who works at Yamazaki Co. He then put nipple-like sensors on his chest and demonstrated how men can now feel what breast-feeding is like.
Nearby, a robot that looked like a woman sat in a dentist's chair. The robot, which had long hair and pale skin, looked like it was breathing. This robot was made for students studying dentistry. Students can practice using the robot before they treat real patients. "Ouch!" the robot said, twitching and blinking. A student had pressed the robot's teeth too hard.
But not all the robots worked perfectly. A pingpong-playing robot from Vietnam called Topio could not hit the ball. (AP)
