Member states of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas agreed Nov. 26 to reduce the eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean bluefin tuna quota for next year over concerns about over-fishing. The quota will be reduced from 32,000 tons to 29,500 tons, and is expected to lead to major price rises in Japan. Meanwhile, the Science Committee of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission may cut their quota of bigeye tuna too. (Kyodo)
