|
|
Americans John C. Mather and George F. Smoot won the Nobel Prize in physics Oct. 3 for measuring the oldest light in the heavens, a feat that convinced skeptics of the big-bang theory of the universe's origin. Americans have swept the Nobel Prizes so far, with Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello taking the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine, and Roger D. Kornberg the Nobel Prize in chemistry. (AP)
