Tunnel workers settle over lung ills

Former tunnel construction workers who have a lung disease from working on state-ordered projects reached a settlement June 20 with the state at the Tokyo High Court. The workers have settled by giving up their claim on compensation — ¥3.3 million per person — in exchange for the state promising to step up measures for workers against pneumoconiosis. (Kyodo)
