NHK to offer TV shows on Internet

NHK plans to offer previously aired TV programs on the Internet possibly from fiscal 2008, becoming the first Japanese TV company to do so, sources said July 18. According to the plan, NHK would provide news and documentary programs aired in the previous week free of charge, although there may be some copyright problems. The BBC is expected to start a similar service July 27. (Kyodo)
