Summer sees record high temperatures
|

This year's summer sent temperatures at 101 observation points to record highs. The temperature at two points marked an all-time high of 40.9 degrees Celsius. These were in Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, and Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture. Also, the temperature in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, hit 35.5, and the temperature on Okinawa's Yonaguni Island hit 35, both reaching 35 for the first time ever. (Kyodo)
