10,000 new entries for 'Kojien'

Around 10,000 entries will be added to the "Kojien" Japanese dictionary, Iwanami Shoten Publishers said Oct. 23. The terms include the Japanese words for whistle-blowing, the Iraq war and NEET, as well as youth slang such as "love-love" (mutually in love) and "uzai" (annoying). But terms such as "Ina Bauer," "cool biz" and "moe" (cute) were not included because editors thought they would be short-lived. (Kyodo)
「広辞苑」改訂で、新語約1万語追加
岩波書店は10月23日、国語辞典の『広辞苑』を改訂し、「うざい」や「ラブラブ」といった若者言葉も含め、1万語あまりを新たに追加することを発表した。
