|
The United Nations reported 34,452 civilians were killed last year, nearly three times more than the Iraqi government reported. That averages at 94 a day. The U.S. death toll as of Jan. 12 stood at 3,019. Meanwhile, two top aides to Saddam Hussein were hanged Jan. 15, and the head of one of them — the former Iraqi dictator's half brother Barzan Ibrahim — was accidentally severed from his body during the execution.
