World NewsWal-Mart faces massive class-action lawsuitU.S. federal appeals court ruled Feb. 6 that Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest private employer, must face a class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit says that 1.5 million former and current female Wal-Mart employees were discriminated against in terms of pay and promotions. It will be the largest class-action employment discrimination lawsuit to go to trial, and it may expose Wal-Mart, which is based in Bentonville, Ark., to billions of dollars in damages. Wal-Mart, which currently employs 1.3 million workers in its 3,400 stores, says it did not have a policy of discrimination. (AP)
