Afghan suicide bomber targets Cheney

A suicide bomber killed and wounded some two dozen people outside the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Feb. 27 during a visit by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney. The Taliban claimed responsibility and said Cheney was the target. Meanwhile Britain announced Feb. 26 that it would send 1,400 extra troops to Afghanistan to help defeat the Taliban, bringing British troop levels there up to 7,700. (AP)
