House OKs Iraqi troop withdrawal

The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation April 25 ordering President George W. Bush to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq by Oct. 1. The result of the vote was 218-208. It is the first binding congressional challenge to Bush's handling of the five-year conflict. The bill sets a nonbinding goal of completing the troop pullout by April 1, 2008. (AP)
