Zimbabwe's inflation hits record high

Zimbabwe's annual inflation rate rose to a new record of 7,634.8 percent in July, according to the first official data published in three months Aug. 22. Zimbabwe is in its eighth year of recession marked by shortages of fuel and foreign currency and unemployment of more than 80 percent. Experts say inflation is likely to rise to as much as 10,000 percent by the end of the year. (AP)
