Petraeus outlines Iraq troop withdrawal
|
|
The top U.S. general in Iraq, David Petraeus, outlined plans Sept. 10 for the withdrawal of as many as 30,000 troops by next summer. He said 2,000 troops will return to the United States this month, but this has been criticized as only a "token withdrawal." The timing of the announcement has come under fire for misleadingly associating Iraq with Sept. 11. More than 3,700 U.S. troops have died in Iraq in the last four years. (AP)
