McDonald's appeals overtime ruling
McDonald's appealed a ruling Jan. 29 that ordered the company to pay ¥7.55 million to a manager at one of its restaurants in Saitama Prefecture because of unpaid overtime. By law, a company does not have to pay overtime to managers. But the man had little authority as manager and little control over his working hours. McDonald's currently employs about 1,700 managers.
