National NewsWork begins on Japanese laboratory in spaceThe U.S. space shuttle Endeavour docked at the International Space Station (ISS) on March 12. On the shuttle were seven astronauts, including Japanese astronaut Takao Doi. This is the beginning of 12 days of operations that include work installing a Japanese laboratory. This laboratory, called "Kibo," will become the largest research module of the ISS. With this installation, Japan will join the United States, Russia and Europe in having a laboratory on the International Space Station. (AP)
