Back-seat passengers must wear seat belts like those in the front after a new seat-belt law took effect June 1, although penalties will only be handed out on expressways. Drivers found carrying passengers not wearing seat belts will have a penalty point added to their record. Police say back-seat passengers without seat belts are four times more likely to die in an accident. (The Japan Times)
自動車の後部座席のシートベルト着用を義務づける改正道路交通法が6月1日に施行された。未着用の場合、高速道路では減点が科されることになる。
