National News Police to arrest Sea Shepherd members

Tokyo police obtained arrest warrants Aug. 18 for three environmental activists from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for interference in Japan's whaling activities in the Antarctic Ocean in February 2007.

Two of the three are U.S. nationals and the other is British, and they will be on an international wanted list.

The three men are alleged to have stopped a Japanese whaling ship by entangling the ship's propeller. The three are also suspected of throwing smoking projectiles onto the ship.

The whaling ship was also allegedly hit by a Sea Shepherd ship after being sandwiched between it and another Sea Shepherd ship. (Kyodo News)

調査捕鯨妨害で、活動家に逮捕状

南極海で昨年2月、日本の調査捕鯨船団が環境保護団体「シー・シェパード」から妨害を受けた事件で、警視庁は8月18日、威力業務妨害容疑で同団体の活動家3人の逮捕状を取った。
