Jobless flock to postcard delivery

The number of applications for temporary employment delivering New Year's postcards has risen sharply this year, apparently because of the deteriorating job market as the recession deepens, according to Japan Post Holdings Co. By Dec. 1, Japan Post had already recruited over 80 percent of the 194,000 temp workers it plans to recruit nationwide before Dec. 15 to collect, sort and deliver New Year's cards. (Kyodo News)
