The glamorous Golden Globes ceremony will be reduced to a news conference because of the writers strike, sources said Jan. 7.
The Screen Actors Guild had also asked its members to skip the Jan. 13 ceremony in support of the writers.
The strike by more than 10,000 writers has continued for two months. The key issue is payment for projects offered on the Internet.
The cancellation will also affect caterers, drivers, hotels, magazines and TV shows.
The Golden Globes bring around $80 billion (¥8.7 trillion) to the Los Angeles economy. (AP)
