Train crash in China worst in a decade
|
|
At least 71 people were killed and more than 400 injured April 28 in China's worst train accident in more than 10 years.
Officials say that speeding was the reason for the crash. A train from Beijing to Qingdao was traveling at 131 kilometers per hour. The speed limit was 80 kilometers per hour.
The passenger train jumped tracks and crashed into an oncoming passenger train on another track.
Accidents are rare in China, but the government is trying to extend and upgrade its trains and introduce more high-speed trains. (AP)
