'Fusion Man' flies above Swiss Alps
|
|
Swiss pilot Yves Rossy put on a pair of jet-powered wings and jumped out of a plane 2,500 meters above the town of Bex, Switzerland, on May 14.
Rossy, 48, first unveiled his design in 2004, but this was the first public demonstration of his homemade machine.
Rossy, who calls himself "Fusion Man," flew high above the Swiss Alps for five minutes, diving and turning figure-of-eights at around 300 kilometers per hour, using only his body to steer.
Rossy's next challenge will be to fly over the English Channel. (AP)
