Peacekeepers abusing children: report

Save the Children UK said in a report March 27 that children are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and international aid workers in war zones and disaster areas.

In some cases, the children were as young as six years old.

"It ranges from sex for food to coerced sex," said one official at the charity. "It's despicable."

The study is based on research in three areas: Sudan, Haiti and Ivory Coast.

The study also said that child abuse has been under-reported because children are afraid to come forward. (AP)
