タイのバンコクで反政府デモ、負傷者400人超
タイのバンコクで反政府デモが続いている。10月7日にはデモ隊と警官隊による大規模な衝突が発生し、2人が死亡、400人以上が負傷した。
Political violence rips Thailand apart
Soldiers helped maintain an uneasy calm in Bangkok on Oct. 9, two days after two people died and more than 400 were injured when police attempted to break up anti-government demonstrations.
Thailand is seeing its worst political violence in more than a decade, as protesters march against Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat. They say that Somchai is a pawn of his brother-in-law, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted after allegations of corruption.
The protesters, who are demanding reform of the political system to prevent further corruption, have occupied the compound of the prime minister's office since Aug. 26. They also barricaded Parliament on Oct. 7, trapping lawmakers inside. (AP)
