Colombia hostage talks fall apart
|
|
A Venezuelan-led mission to rescue three hostages from rebels in Colombia's jungles fell apart Dec. 31. The negotiations with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have involved representatives from France, Switzerland and five Latin American countries. The three hostages are congresswoman Consuelo Gonzalez, Clara Rojas and her 3-year-old son, who was fathered by one of her captors. Rojas, a former vice presidential candidate, was kidnapped in 2002 and Gonzalez in 2001. (AP)
