China detains quake school critic
Chinese police have detained a retired teacher on subversion charges, sources said June 18. The teacher wrote three articles on an overseas Chinese website, criticizing the state of many of the school buildings that collapsed and crushed thousands of children in last month's earthquake. She blamed bad construction on corruption. (AP)
