Lebanon, Syria establish ties
|
|
The presidents of Lebanon and Syria agreed Aug. 13 to establish full diplomatic relations in a meeting in Damascus. Syria and Lebanon haven't had full diplomatic ties since they both gained independence from France in the 1940s. The agreement came as a bomb ripped through a bus in a crowded street in Tripoli on Aug. 12, killing 18 people. It was the worst bombing in Lebanon in three years. (AP)
