A former North Korean spy will soon meet the family members of a Japanese woman abducted by North Korea decades ago, South Korea's foreign minister said Feb. 11.
Kim Hyon Hui, convicted of planting a bomb on a South Korean airliner in 1987 that killed all 115 people on board, recently expressed her intention to meet relatives of Yaeko Taguchi.
Kim said that during espionage training, she was taught Japanese by a Japanese woman who said she had been abducted and taken to North Korea.
Japan's Foreign Ministry said it is possible that Taguchi, who went missing in June 1978, was Kim's teacher. (AP)
