26 seismic meters found to be faulty
|
|
The Meteorological Agency will stop announcing seismic intensity data from 26 locations because the meters there are inaccurate. The agency said seismic intensity might be over-reported at 23 of the sites, especially those where the meters were placed in the middle of a slope. The other three meters, which were installed on hard bedrock in mountain ravines, might under-report quake intensity. The meters are part of the 627 observation points the agency has set up nationwide. (Kyodo News)
