Survey: Lay judges enjoyed role

The Supreme Court said Nov. 17 the lay judge system seems to be running smoothly, citing the results of a poll of 528 people taking part in the new process. Of those surveyed, 97.5 percent felt it was a "good experience." The survey covered 79 people who actually served as lay judges, as well as 30 chosen as standbys and 419 others who had been candidates but not selected. (Kyodo News)
