Myanmar's military regime allowed reporters and diplomats to observe the trial of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi for the first time May 20 amid growing international criticism over the junta's handling of her case. Suu Kyi, who has been in detention for more than 13 of the past 19 years, is accused of violating the terms of her house arrest by allowing an American visitor to stay at her home. The offense is punishable by up to five years' imprisonment. (AP)
