Iraq fetes U.S. pullout from cities

U.S. President Barack Obama said the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraqi urban areas June 30 is an important step toward Iraq's sovereignty and the end of the war. A bombing in Kirkuk marred what had otherwise been a festive day as Iraqis commemorated the newly declared National Sovereignty Day with military parades and marching bands. Four U.S. soldiers were killed June 29, however — the last day of regular combat operations in the cities. (AP)
