Woman fine after heart pumps
|
|
A woman was released from a hospital in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, on May 18 after undergoing what may have been the world's first successful operation to embed two assist pumps for her heart, officials at the institution said. Unlike pumps outside the body, those embedded internally increase blood flow and are believed to be less likely to cause complications involving brain-blood circulation or infection. (Kyodo News)
