Only 58% of grads-to-be find jobs

Fewer than 60 percent of university students due to graduate next spring had secured employment as of Oct. 1, an all-time low for this time of year, a government survey found. The tally, 57.6 percent, was down 4.9 percentage points from a year earlier, the joint survey by the education and labor ministries found. The proportion of junior college students who had secured employment was 22.5 percent, down 6.5 points and also the lowest since the survey was first taken in 1996. (Kyodo News)
