Japanese horse wins in Dubai
|
|
Victoire Pisa and Transcend capped a historic and emotional one-two for quake-battered Japan on March 26 as the Katsu-hiko Sumii-trained colt won the $10 million (¥828 million) Dubai World Cup. Victoire Pisa, with Mirco Demuro in the irons, finished half a length in front of Transcend to become the first Japanese horse to win the world's richest race. Japan's previous highest finish was in 2001, when To the Victory came in second. Demuro dedicated the $6 million (¥496 million) victory to the victims of the March 11 earthquake. (AP)
