Triple Crown winner horse dies

Former Triple Crown winner Symboli Rudolf died Oct. 4. He was 30. Symboli Rudolph won the Satsuki-sho, Japanese Derby and Kikka-sho to capture the Triple Crown with an undefeated record in 1984 — the first to accomplish such a feat in the history of the Japan Racing Association. After becoming only the fourth horse to win the Triple Crown, Symboli Rudolph went on to triumph in the Arima Kinen the same year and claimed seven Grade One titles before retiring to stud in 1986.
