|
|
The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by a public servant over his 20-year prison term for causing the death of three children in a 2006 hit-and-run crash while driving under the influence of alcohol. The top court's decision Oct. 31 finalizes the sentence of Futoshi Imabayashi, a 27-year-old former Fukuoka Municipal Government employee, on a charge of dangerous driving resulting in death. It is the first time the Supreme Court has indicated a sentencing standard for drunk driving, after rulings by lower courts differed. (Kyodo News)
