World's oldest dog dies at age 26 3/4

The world's oldest living dog, as recognized by Guinness World Records, has died at home in Sakura, Tochigi Prefecture, his owner said Dec. 6. He was 26 years and 9 months old, equivalent to more than 125 years in human age. Pusuke, a shiba inu crossbreed, had been showing a good appetite and kept up with his daily morning and evening strolls until the morning of Dec. 5, when he suddenly refused to eat and appeared to have difficulty breathing, owner Yumiko Shinohara said. 「世界一の長寿犬」としてギネス記録に認定された、栃木県在住の篠原由美子さんの「プースケ」(雄)が12月5日、老衰のため26歳と9ヵ月で死亡した。
