World NewsObama appalled by tornado damageAt least 340 people were killed in six states -- more than two-thirds in Alabama -- as America's deadliest tornado outbreak in almost four decades pulverized entire neighborhoods. U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to console victims April 29. In the first major test of his administration in responding to a natural disaster, the president and his wife, Michelle, toured a ruined section of the city, where 45 people were killed and nearly 1,000 injured. They spoke with residents trying to salvage belongings in the aftermath of the twisters. "I've never seen devastation like this," Obama said. (AP)
