Restart of dam project gets green light
|

The government and ruling Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) have officially decided to include funding in the fiscal 2012 budget to resume construction on the Yanba Dam in Gunma Prefecture, a project the DPJ froze soon after taking power in 2009. On Dec. 24, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda told reporters that the "painful decision" was made after construction minister Takeshi Maeda and three former DPJ land ministers thoroughly examined the matter.
