Comedian returns mother's welfare money

A wealthy comedian who admitted that his mother lived on welfare payments has paid back the government for some benefits she received, his management office said. Although Yoshimoto Creative Agency refrained from revealing the exact amount, Junichi Komoto is believed to have refunded several million yen based on his comments made in May. The sum was proposed by a welfare office, and Komoto, 37, made the last payment June 20, the talent agency said June 26. (Kyodo News)
