Children, adults over 50 getting stronger

The physical strength of children has improved significantly, the education and sports ministry says. A survey on physical strength conducted by the ministry shows a dramatic improvement in scores for 2011 from 1998, when the current data method was introduced. Boosted by the fitness boom, scores by people aged 50 and older also improved, but those for women in their 20s and 30s as well as men in their 30s declined because they have less opportunity to exercise, the ministry said.
