Amagasaki killing suspect dies in cell

The prime suspect in the deaths and disappearances of several people, including a woman found dead in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, apparently took her own life Dec. 12 in her jail cell despite being on a suicide watch, prefectural police said. They said Miyoko Sumida, 64, was found on the futon in her cell with her black clothes twisted around her neck. Her death will likely make it difficult for the police to gain a full picture of what happened. (Kyodo News)
