The culture ministers of Japan, China and South Korea met Sept. 28 in Gwangju, South Korea, and designated one East Asia City of Culture in each country.
Three cities -- Yokohama, Quanzhou in China and Gwangju in South Korea -- will host a series of cultural and arts exchange programs to be organized next year.
Japan's culture minister, Hakubun Shimomura, said the meeting was "a big achievement" for the countries. (Kyodo)
