Eleven small cracks on the Seto Ohashi Bridge linking Japan's Honshu and Shikoku islands remain unrepaired since being found by Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway Co. in 2009, company officials said April 9.
The highway-railway bridge, consisting of seven metal sub bridges linking Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture and Sakaide in Kagawa Prefecture, opened in 1988 and marked its 25th anniversary April 10.
Professor of the University of Tokyo Yozo Fujino says the cracks aren't a threat. (Kyodo)
