U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is using Twitter to renew his defense of his Dec. 2 phone call with the leader of Taiwan, a breach of diplomatic protocol as the U.S. shifted recognition from Taiwan to China nearly 40 years ago.
Tweeting on Dec. 4, Trump groused about criticism that he didn't work with China ahead of the phone call. China considers Taiwan to be a part of China.
Since the Nov. 8 election, Trump has taken several calls with foreign leaders, apparently without State Department guidance. (AP)
