More than 300 people died after twin bomb explosions Oct. 14 in Mogadishu, an official said Oct. 16, as locals packed hospitals in search of friends and relatives.
At the time of the statement, no organization had claimed responsibility for the attacks, which hit two busy junctions in the city.
"We have confirmed 300 people died in the blast. The death toll will still be higher because some people are still missing," the director of the city's ambulance service said. The blasts are Somalia's deadliest attack in a decade. (Reuters, AP)
