Japan's team experience again proved too much for a United States squad that came together just days before the eighth World Cup of Softball.
Yuki Hayashi went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Japan won 6-3 on July 14 in Oklahoma City to win the gold medal in the World Cup, ending the long reign of the Americans in the international event.
"(Our strategy) was to put the bat on the ball and make something happen," Japan coach Reika Utsugi said. "That's what I think we did very well." (AP)
