SOFA protection for civilians to be narrowed

Japan and the U.S. officially agreed July 5 to narrow the definition of civilian workers who come under U.S. jurisdiction in the event they commit a crime.

Since May, Tokyo and Washington have been working to change the implementation of the Status of Forces Agreement.
