The education ministry took disciplinary action Jan. 20 against seven senior bureaucrats over their involvement in illegally negotiating to secure a colleague a post-retirement university job.
A report from a Cabinet Office oversight committee said that the ministry's human resources division sent information on Daisuke Yoshida, 61, then a senior ministry official, to Tokyo's Waseda University to help him get a job once he retired.
The government intends to probe other ministries for similar cases of wrongdoing. (Kyodo)
